Mexico Trip Report-Day 5

We woke up around 10 am….Finally a full nights sleep. C&M went scuba diving early in the morning, so we were just going to meet them at Como No for breakfast. I ordered migas, but didn’t eat any of them because as soon as they put the plate in front of me…I, out of no where, started feeling sick. Not because of the food, but just out of no where…So I didn’t eat breakfast that morning. Instead I had a glass of water and some tummy medicine. Yum...

We headed down to the beach to relax and lay out. We didn’t take many pictures this day because we really just wanted to relax. Candace went up to take a nap and Aurelio, Michael and I went to the pool until 5:30ish.

This was a party boat from Cancun. Usually they don't "dump" the passengers off on the Caribbean side of Isla, but this particular boat did. This was the ONLY boat the entire week that we saw come to this side. Trust me, if everyone that did a booze cruise knew how beautiful this side of the island is, then they would ALL start coming. Not good news. Attention booze cruisers...stay on the bay side!!! (look at me, being an island snob already)

We had dinner reservations at a place called Olivia’s at 7, so up to the condo we went to get ready.

From the website:

Welcome to Olivia, Tastes from the Mediterranean.

Israeli couple Lior Ben-shafrut Zelzer and Yaron Zelzer have introduced their culture and traditional flavors to the enchanting island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico in a wonderful fusion of Moroccan, Greek, Bulgarian and Turkish influenced cuisine. Olivia is a mélange of cultural recipes of the couples parents and grandparents. After living in Isla Mujeres for four years and missing the variety of flavors and home-cooked meals they grew up with in Israel, Lior and Yaron decided to bring some of their home to the island and recreate the recipes their Mothers and Grandmothers handed down to them, which was not a simple task, to say the least.

The result is Olivia, a refreshingly diverse restaurant with a loyal following of both local residents and visitors to Isla Mujeres. Everything served at Olivia is homemade “from scratch” daily. From the delicious selections of freshly baked bread to the unique spices and seasonings used to flavor the freshest produce, fish and meats. Lior and Yaron pay homage to the home cooked food their Mothers and Grandmothers so lovingly brought to the table.

All I can say is that it was AMAZING!!! Everything we ordered was outstanding! That will be a place that we continue to go to every time we visit the island.

There was live music at Café del Mar again, so we headed that direction to have some drinks under the stars and with the beautiful huts all around. The stupid iPhone always comes in handy…I say stupid, because I use to make fun of it, and ever since I got one for myself, in 2008…I LOVE it. Anyway, I have an app called iParty, and its basically the game CatchPhrase. Great party game…We sat in the dark, listened to live music, enjoyed the drinks, and played this game for several hours.

Time to turn it…

A half way island snob,
Me
