Seattle Day 4

Happy Fathers day!

Called the three people I needed to call (Aurelio, Michael, and my daddy, Alva)

Up an out of the hotel by 9am again. Headed to Annie's to load up and eat dim sum. Dim sum is where everyone sits at this huge round table and several ladies with many different foods come around and place things on your lazy Susan on your table. Every lady has a different food on her cart. It's a rather fun experience. The twins actually liked the food! The twins parents, auntie Annie and uncle Jeff, and their mother, Queenie, are wonderful people, so it made for a fun time. A big thank you to them for making me feel welcome in Seattle.

The Aftermath...

Baby Cate was not impressed.

After brunch, we headed over to the Seattle Aquarium. It was a "typical" day in Seattle today...50's and a constant drizzle...

So a day at the aquarium was perfect. We got to see a scuba diver swimming with tons of fish, touch sea enmities and starfish, and see tons of crazy looking fish. They also had sea otters and sea lions. They were exceptionally cute.

Will and David have been extremely whiny in Seattle. Maybe it was the two hour time change, maybe it was all the newness, maybe it was the tons of excitement that was always going on...who knows? But....geez, it was almost unbearable at the aquarium. They threw several tantrums, demanding to do things by their self. Silly things like stepping a different way, or seeing the fish before you did.... Welcome to the terrible three's!!!!!

Nap time. The boys went down easily, The dad watched golf, and the mom and I watched a movie: Couples Retreat.

Headed back to Annie's condo for dinner. She made king salmon with pasta, corn, salad, carrots and a gorgeous strawberry shortcake. This woman makes everything from scratch! Everything was Divine! Thanks Auntie Annie.

There were 9 children all playing at once...loud and crazy, trust me!

Tried Annie's potty.... Wow is all I can say. The only thing that felt "good" was the warm toilet seat. It was heated and ready to go the second I sat down.

I sat there and tried ALL of the options. It was...

THE. STRANGEST. THING. EVER.

It felt as if I was doing something extremely naughty, and on a hidden camera to see my reaction or something. Glad I tried it, but I won't be getting a potty like this for my house.

Annie got the boys presents for the trip and also because their birthday was last week. HUGE firetrucks! They loved them so much.

The cousins played until they were literally asking to go night-night. What three year old asks to go night-night? None...so you knew they were super tired.

Now this was super funny...the boys put on the noise cancelling headphones from the flight, and started running around and playing with each other. Well, because they really couldn't hear anything...they were YELLING at each other.

David: "HI WILL-WILL" (tons of giggles)

Will: "HUH???" (giggling as well)

Boys asleep by 10 but the mom and I wanted a snack, so we walked over to McD's (my least favorite place in the world) to get a drink and an order of fries!

It's 11:20 and I'm headed to bed quickly now.

Seattle Day 3

Early morning for us. We had to all be up, dressed, and out the door by 9am. We were going to a brunch hosted by the bride and groom. It was at another hotel in Seattle. The breakfast was great an the boys were exceptionally good...thanks to me and my "nanny backpack". It included, colors and coloring book, iPad with 4 kid movies on it, and a bag of M&M's. What more do you really need?

At the brunch table...there were two little girls that were getting bored as well, so out came the iPad to watch Curious George the Movie... Yes, the kids are UNDER the wedding brunch table... LOL

We then headed back to Annies condo for the kiddos to play and exert energy. She made wonderful, homemade bran muffins for all to enjoy. Oh yeah, huge milestone made in Seattle...William did the duty in the potty!!!!! Not pee pee, the other one!!!! Goooooooo Big Boy Will.

Whew...nap time again. Back to the hotel where we ALL took a nap. Me, the twins, baby Cate and the parents. Thank you nap time!!! Auntie Shea loves her nap time.

Next, we caught a cab to head back to Annies so we could leave as a group for dinner and ice cream. With 7 adults and 5 children, we walked the streets of Seattle for dinner. We went to a place where we had many different "fish and chips" choices. There was halibut and chips, chicken and chips, fried clam and chips, fried oysters and chips, and shrimp and chips! Fried fried fried!!! Bring on the grease. I had the halibut and chips but tried the fried clam and the oysters since I've never tasted that before. The clam was excellent, and the oysters were manageable. I didn't spit it out, so it was good enough to keep chewing and swallow, but I didn't grab another one. It was a bit gross feeling in my mouth, which made me think nasty things. Lol. So I decided one was enough for me.

With the leftover fries and seafood, we went to the dock to feed the seagulls. They were pretty feisty! Some wanted you to throw it up in the air for them, and some stayed down below waiting for dropped pieces. I liked feeding them right out of my hands. They would hop on over and take it from your fingers. The boys loved this. They were squealing with excitement.

As if all of that grease want enough for our tummies, we walked over to a wonderful ice cream place for dessert. I got caramel coffee ice cream on a cone and it was great! The boys wanted red ice cream, but settled for strawberry instead. Lately they love the color red, so that what they initially asked for. David had his in a cup and Will chose a cone. Now usually we get the the same thing because if you don't, it could lead to disaster. But this time, they were totally content on having exactly what they wanted. Whew, disaster avoided! Annie, who lives in Pioneer Square, in the bay area, said it was the coldest spring/summer ever. It was a bit chilly (54 degrees) and windy, but I thought it felt nice.

Will wanted ME to push the stroller, but wanted to hold MOMMY'S hand. Very particular little boy.

As we were walking back to the condo, Auntie Annie told us about some shops along the way. This one in particular grabbed my attention. Looks like a shoe store, right....? Well, it is, but not what you think. Annie said all of these shoes belong to the owner. There wasn't enough space in her house for her shoes, and so many people complimented her on her own shoes, that it gave her the idea to open a "used shoe store". She keeps them on display for people to buy, but if they don't buy them, she still puts them on and wears them!!! So basically, this is her shoe closet that she still wears ALL the shoes and if someone wants to buy them, then she sells them... Genius!

Turns out, I like Seattle so far.
