Meet Cate

Little miss Cate was born last week. Will and David are now BIG brothers!!! She is beautiful!

Walking down the hall to meet baby sister. Scared...are we?

The first time they saw her.

Looking, but saying NO words.

Will warmed up to her pretty quick, David on the other hand....needs a little more time.

Baby sister Cate got the boys pink cupcakes. What a great sister! Now they are calling their baby sister "BabyCakes"

The Big Top Candy Shop

Over on South Congress, just past Oltorf, is a vintage candy shop that is supposed to be fantastic! I saw it on the "365 things to do in Austin" list, so I thought I'd take Trey to check it out.... Since I've only lived here for 28ish years and I've NEVER been either. He had a baseball game the same night, but we had time to kill before the game...hence why he is wearing what he is wearing....Trey is so funny these days. He says the most random things. As we're driving, he says "I feel it commin".... Sure enough, seconds later, its on the left hand side of the road.
He shouts, "SEE MOM!!! I TOLD YOU I FELT IT COMMIN".
Silly boy. Now he thinks he's psychic or what? It was amazing. Now Im not old, by all means, but it was a little bit of a flashback seeing some of the candy that I used to eat as a child...so I can only imagine someone in their 4o's or 50's going there. I'm sure if I took my dad, I'd hear a lot of "I remember when candy was a nickle" and "I used to eat this candy while walking to school....up hill....both ways" He he he.... Anyway, It was a great store and I suggest you go too. Other than candy, they have a malt station. The employees even wear vintage aprons. (nice touch).

This is what you see as you walk in the door! Divine!
Trey was picking out Salt Water Taffy for his GiGi...
YES....You are reading this correctly. Bacon Gumballs.... totally gross.
I begged Trey to try these. He is all into the Fear Factor stuff, so I figured he'd want to try these Cheddar and Bacon Crickettes, Sour Cream and Onion Cricketts, Salt and Vinegar Cricketts, or Spicy Meal worms! He said "I wouldn't even do it for 20 bucks."
Pixi Stix....gatta love em'
Here's where I felt bad. I bought these almost every weekend from the ice cream truck! I thought these were AWESOME. They are candy cigarettes. He wanted a pack so bad, but I just couldn't break down and let him have some. NO one in our family smoke, so I just didn't feel right letting him have them. He started to say, "Oh mom, they're so cool...." Well, there were some seats in the candy store, and being the crazy mom I am, I sat him down right there and talked to him about cigarettes, and how I felt about them. And the image that it portrays about you....he says, "mom.... I don't want to smoke....EVER, I'm just asking for the candy" Ha ha ha, I thought..... WELL YOU'RE STILL NOT GETTING THEM!!!! lol....(this means Laugh Out Loud, for my members that aren't up to par)

Do as I say, not as I did! (great, I finally get to use that famous parent quote)

Here are some random posters that were on the wall.... LOVED IT

Kona...or....Cone-A

Our little Kona got spayed and micro chipped on Friday...She did really well! We dropped her off at 7am on Friday morning and was advised to pick her up at 5pm that evening. When I picked her up, I walked to the front counter and said,
"Hi, I'm Kona's mommy,"

Their faces lit up with delight! (hmmmmm I thought....that can't be good. Why are they so happy to see me?) They brought her to me looking like your regular ole' circus dog, with a cone for her to wear for 10 days.
"Is she always this hyper?" the doctor said.

"Uhhhh, pretty much" I told them.

The doctor said she did great, and that most dogs should be groggy for the next two days...except something tells her that Kona is not going to be groggy.
"Great" I thought. "Leave it to MY dog to be the psycho on pain meds, and for me to worry abut her ripping her tummy open."

We got home and I take the cone off for a rest. She doesn't even notice the stitches....GREAT! After several hours, I was thinking this would be an easy 10 days. Just as I thought that to myself, Roxy, our other dog runs over and starts licking them for her. At tha moment, Kona realized she had something strange on her tummy. THANK YOU ROXY! Kona only wears the cone when we are leavng the house or at night time while we can't watch her....and....she doesn't even mind it one bit!

She under estimates how close things are to her, sh she runs into EVERY wall, corner, door or person.

Thre is showing off her shaved tummy, and her little shaved spot where she had her IV.

Looking beautiful...even while wearing "The Cone of Shame"

Baseball

Trey is on the Oakland A's again this year. This is for 7-8yr olds. He still plays second base and short stop, and has improved so much since last year! He really is a great little athlete...We are just working on better sportsmanship. I'll email the game schedule to anyone that is interested in coming to a game.

Second baseman catching a grounder while watching the runner... Great Job TreyDay!

The shortstop tossed it to second for the force out!

OK, Here, I really saw Trey say, "Good hit" to the HUGE boy that hit a double. What a sweet second baseman!
