Mexico Trip Report-Day 6

Goooooooooood Morning Isla Mujeres!!! Today is the day we will golfcart AGAIN…but this time, I have my two missing items with me.

1. My Hubby
2. A working camera!!!!

Three cheers… Hip Hip Hurray…Hip Hip Hurray…Hip Hip Hurray!!!

We went to a little French Bistro for breakfast. Yum!!! I got some kind of breakfast sandwich that was amazing, and Aurelio got the waffles… Great little place. (Now that I am thinking about it, I loved all of the food so much on this trip that I wish I took pics of all the entrĂ©es. Next time for sure!

This orange kitty greeted us every morning AND every night walking home. Michael really took to this cat. Not sure what he named the cat, but we really liked him!

We went to Punta Sur…again. Aurelio loved it, and so did I. We walked through the garden and all down the side of the island tip. On the way to Punta Sur, there is a tiny airport that houses small personal planes and helicopters. After the airport comes my favorite part….the tiny houses that obviously were at the bottom of the food chain here in Isla. One of my passions of photography is to take something “out of the norm” and make it beautiful. While working in the NICU, I really enjoyed taking pictures of the babies that passed. The families would approach me and ask me to do this for them. The pictures always turn out beautiful. Same with cemeteries…and also the same with this strip of very poor houses. These are some of my favorites.
This is what the speed bumps in Isla look like. We quickly learned that people call them tities... LOL Here is a tripple titty. We also saw a double titty and a quadrouple titty! (Immature, I know, but still funny)
The elementary school on the island.
After passing the lower part of Isla, you come to an obvious more wealthy area. These houses were huge and amazing. It almost seems as though you ever have money…or you don’t. There aren’t too many houses that are “middle class”.
The Grass House.

Candace pointed out that this is NEW construction. I know it looks old and run down, but I'm sure in a few months it will be stunning!
Talk about a privacy fence.....geez
This is actually the shape of the island...4 times. The very top triangle part is Playa Norte...where our condos are. And obviously the very bottom is Punta Sur...where this sculpture garden is.

Here is the Mayan Temple. It says "Don't touch" ...but we did... (no pregnancy here...damn Goddess Ixchel)
This says "You are standing on the easternmost point in Mexico! "Cliff of Dawn" is the first part of our country to be touched by the sun's rays every morning. Come back early enough tomorrow and you can tell everyone that you were literally the FIRST person in Mexico to see the sun that day"

We swang by the Villa La Bella for a beer…The sign explains it all. Yes, our beer was cold!

Some more of the southern part of the island...

Then we went to the Soggy Peso for some wings and beer. Even Peso himself was there to greet us. Cute little doggie.

This place had signs everywhere!!! I mean, EVERYWHERE!!

The wings were fantastic and so was the company! The bartenders there were beyond friendly and love entertaining the newbies. I went to the ladies room, and when I came out, I naturally started washing my hands…I feel something on top of my head, so I look up, and let out a small scream. It was a fake spider on a string… I fell for it! Aurelio knew about this so he had the camera ready. Jerk! Ha ha ha
We made a few more stops looking around on the island before we wanted a snack. We headed down to the pier/ferry for some guacamole. There were tons of boats docked that day. They all had names on the back of them..this is the one we liked the best.
We began to walk down the pier when this man was running by...His shirt said "Photo" so I said, "Alto" and snapped a photo of him. In broken English he says, "No no no, I photo you". Ha ha ha, well I thought it was funny, and I think the photo turned out hilarious! Gracias Senor!

We then went to the baseball field on the island and then over to our last stop of the day…Jax.

We turned the cart in and decided to walk through town for our last souvenir purchases. We got a spoon holder for the stove at home, and I got a ring! Woo hoo…took a little bit of negotiating, but we talked the guy down from 55 USD to 25 USD! Good job honey!

Busy day, but so glad that Aurelio attended this golf cart tour!

More Pics from the last day.....
