Washington, D.C.

The Trip: I went to Washington, D.C. with the family I work for. We flew into Baltimore and drove to Washington where we stayed at the beautiful Willard Hotel right across from the Washington Monument and the White House.

The Flight: We flew with the the twins, W and D , who are now 16 months old and acted like pros on the airplane. They didn't cry at all. Everyone on the plane was soooo surprised when we landed and saw that there were two babies on their flight. They said, "I have never seen such good babies on an airplane before".

The White House: We got to go to the White House to meet President Bush. We had to be there at 9am because he was honoring the USA Olympians in the Rose Garden beforehand. We got to see the entire ceremony! All of the Olympians were there wearing their USA athletic suit. Michael Phelps and the rest of the swimmers, the entire women's and men's gymnastics team, volley ball...... everyone! It was so neat to see this ceremony. Afterwards, we were allowed to meet them, however, Michael Phelps disappeared FAST! I guess he decided he was too big and bad to meet us "normal people". I got a picture with Shawn Johnson (gold medal gymnast)....who is a lot shorter than I imagined. She didn't even come up to my boobs!

After the ceremony, it was time to meet the President. There were so many secret service there guarding the white house... I know he is the most powerful man in the United States, but you guys just have NO idea how guarded this place is.....WOW! We got to see the Oval Office and talk with him for quite awhile. He is actually a very handsome man, and was extremely nice. He was running after the twins and even talking "baby talk" to them...it was rather sweet to see. D was licking most of the windows in the Oval Office, and the President didn't even care. President Bush was telling us about the decorations in the office, and how the First Lady gets to design the HUGE rug in the office. Mrs. Bush designed the rug a cream color with yellow sun bursts coming from the center....just as he was telling us that, D also decided to lay on the rug and proceed to lick/eat it. President Bush just laughed and said, "Don't worry about it". He signed a baseball for Trey and gave him a bookmark off of HIS desk, and a pack of M&M'S with the White House and Presidential logo on it.

Washington was fun, but very short. I would love to go back when there is more time to do things around the city.

When I got home, I gave Trey his baseball from the President and showed him the picture of Bush and mommy holding the baseball. Trey said, "Hey.....that guy looks familiar. His picture is hanging in my classroom at school" Funny kid! I told him, "that's the President". He said, "of the united states?" WOW. Ohhh to be 6 again!
